The Golden Filter

The Golden Filter

"The pair's raw, blistering sound explores a post-punk space from an electronic perspective, reminiscent of ZE Records or even Factory Floor." ~ Clash Magazine

The Golden Filter is the communal guise of Australian, Penelope Trappes and American, Stephen Hindman. Part art project, part electronic experimentation, part dark techno party, The Golden Filter were born in 2008 in NYC as a disruption to the pop music status quo. Now based in London, their current raw, energetic, minimal wave sound pushes the limits of analogue beat-heavy soundscaping, caressed by Penelope’s angular, ghostly vocalisations and
energetic performances.

"Raw electronics somewhere in between dancepunk, EBM and industrial, this cut from The Golden Filter's new album 'Autonomy' distills everything good about their sound into one song." ~ Resident Advisor

In 2019, The Golden Filter released two EPs, ‘Dislocation’ and ‘Restaint,‘ as well as a full-length LP, ‘Autonomy’ on their newly formed label, 4GN3S, along with a 17-date tour supporting Sharon Van Etten throughout the UK and Europe. Previous to that was a run of EPs and an album on the formidable Optimo Music.

"Electro-tinged synth wave, sounding like a cross between Miss Kittin and Glass Candy." ~ Resident Advisor
